Heartstone Odyssey - Preston

We are working with Preston City Council, the Racial Equality Council (REC) and Lancs Constabulary to bring the Heartstone Odyssey Project to Preston.

We hope to recruit 10 schools from the Preston area to take part. Working with Years 5,6 and 7, the project will be led by Heartstone, a non-profit national voluntary organisation and will encourage learners to see past prejudice and celebrate difference.

Centred on Heartstone's fictional story, The Heartstone Odyssey, the project will:

  • promote understanding of different nationalities, cultures & backgrounds
  • challenge prejudice, intolerance and explore hate crimes
  • develop literacy, communication and critical thinking skills

Schools are asked to send in expressions of interest to begin the project in the autumn term. Each school will be provided with CPD for staff, FREE Heartstone books and resources, and will culminate in a celebratory event to be held in the summer term.
