The Lancashire Value Added Project (VAP) is produced by the Assessment/Professional Support Teams. For well over a decade (since 1992), this project has provided participating secondary schools with information about the value-added progress made by their pupils in KS4 examinations. Almost 100 schools from four local authorities are currently involved in the project.
The project uses individual pupils GL Assessment Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) scores as a baseline against which to measure progress. The analysis compares pupils achievement in each examination subject against the achievement of pupils of similar ability and gender across all project schools.
The accuracy of the VAP analyses is based on the matching of a pupils CAT score with their KS4 results.
