Literacy across the Curriculum
All our teaching is through literacy. In its widest sense, literacy is Reading Writing and Oracy. Literacy then, is just good teaching and learning. Lancashire's English Consultants support whole school literacy policies and practices. For support with a school audit, creating a policy, ensuring current practice meets OFSTED expectations or developing existing policies contact Anne Kenworthy (Lanacshie Secondary Consultant) on e mail firstname.lastname@example.org See the attached document for how embedded literacy is high on OFSTED's expectations.
Talk for writing and maximising the use of classroom talk has been just one focus for our Litercay Co-ordinator Network meetings held each term. Extending pupils' verbal contributions as well as examining how teachers can best be role models for talk have been successful sessions with schools reporting improvements in pupils' motivation and outcomes.
READING for exam success has been a big focus at the networks during 2017-18 with delegates returning to school with practical ideas for developing reading skills across the curriculum.
The Agenda for 2018-19? We will include:
Reading and Vocabulary Building across the curriculum
Evaluation of literacy strategies
Improving Written Outcomes
