Emergency procedures for supporting learning and community

There are many ways that Lancashire schools can communicate and share electronic resources and information with individuals within their school communities (e.g. pupils). These individuals will be able to receive this information and often collaborate or share information with other if they have access to an Internet connection and a suitable device to facilitate this. Therefore they may be based anywhere such as their home or a library. There are many reasons that may cause a partial or full closure of a school (e.g. flu pandemic/fire ...).

Some of these strategies for comunicating and sharing electronically are more efficient or robust than others. We have outlined the main online strategies below. Click on the link below to go to the appropriate section or use the navigation on the left.

Other Considerations

Safeguarding of pupils

Conditions/terms of use for online communication and learning

Broadband access

Staff skills/professional development - Staff may need support and skills in using some of the methods outlined above. Schools alos need to consider that staff will need to monitor usage and will also need to be familiar with the tools/strategies they can use to do this.

Technical support - Schools need to make sure that they have support in running any of the chosen methods. This includes procedures such as issuing or resetting passwords.
