Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra

The Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra plays a wide range of orchestral music from large scale symphonies to popular concert works.  There is also the opportunity for principal players to perform concerti with the orchestra. The orchestra meets regularly throughout the year to participate in rehearsals, concerts and residential courses. A high level of commitment is expected and membership is by audition. As a guide, the minimum standard required for the LYSO is Grade 5/6.

The morning session of each rehearsal is spent in sectionals. These sessions are directed by Lancashire Music Service staff along with a team of professional musicians drawn from leading orchestras in the UK. The afternoon is a full orchestra rehearsal led by the Musical Director.

Musical Director: Helen Harrison

Rehearsals are on Sundays from 10.00am to 3.30pm
at Lostock Hall Academy, Todd Lane North, Lostock Hall

The Youth Orchestra has recorded many CDs in it's history, the latest is Orchestral Show Pieces.
