Welcome to the Lancashire Music Service's section of the Lancashire Grid for Learning. The aim of the Music Service is to enable and encourage access for Lancashire’s pupils and young people to musical experiences, bringing them the best music making opportunities available. We do this by working in partnership with all Lancashire’s schools helping and supporting them to meet their aspirations in providing a wide range of high quality musical activities for their pupils.

Here you can get a great deal of information on general music in schools, instrumental music, Music Centres and our County Ensembles. You can also download sound clips of our ensembles, view our brochures and termly magazine not to mention look at the ground braking eLearning section of the site.

Lancashire Music Service Award Winners

in e-Government National Awards 2009

Lancashire Music Service is blowing its own trumpet after being Highly Commended at the prestigious e-Government National Awards, held on 20 January at a glittering ceremony at the City of London's Guildhall.

A panel of expert judges chose 72 finalists from of almost 450 entries, with the emphasis on projects that showed improved value for money, good team working and a multi-agency approach.

Alongside our partners Charanga, a leading software and development publisher, we were shortlisted in the learning and skills category, and the judges were clearly impressed with our fantastic interactive website (www.) which helps pupils in schools across Lancashire with their music education.

County Councillor Susie Charles, cabinet member for children and schools, said: "This is terrific news and I send my warmest congratulations to everyone at LMS and Charanga.

"It's wonderful to see so many of our children and young people having so much fun with this modern approach to music, whether they are learning a new instrument or discovering their singing voice.

All Music Service teachers and all Lancashire County schools have free access to our e-Learning website where there are thousands of resources. If you still have not signed up click the button below to obtain your login details.
