MFL Cross Curricular Poetry, Song and Video Competition 2013

Lancashire's Talent Competition aims to encourage Year 8 pupils to use languages creatively.

The 2013 competition is sponsored by:

How to enter.



  • Poems can be on any topics and any style and shape (Haiku, acrostics, with or without rhymes, etc). Why not team up with your English, history, science or RE department?


  • Songs can be any style of music. Why not team up with your music or PE department?


  • Videos can be a documentary, a song, a role-play, a funny video to show why learning a language is important, or any other great idea(s) your Year 8 can come up with.  Why not team up with your drama or music department?

Rules of entry €“ please read carefully before sending your entries



  • The competition is open to Year 8 pupils in Lancashire only
  • Each school can submit up to 20 entries in total (poems/songs/videos)
  • Entries can be submitted individually or in groups (max 3-4 per group)
  • The judges’ decision is final
  • Closing date: entries to arrive by Friday 1st March 2013
  • Winning entries will be posted on the Lancashire website
  • Please label each entry with name of pupil(s)
  • Songs /Videos (+lyrics) can be sent on one CD / USB (or tape for songs) – saved with title of song – name of pupil(s)
  • The presentation of prizes will take place at UCLan.

Winner: Spanish Song: Marta Wisniewski, Karolina Pancerz and Humairaa Ali, Christ the King Catholic Maths and Computing College


Best Entry - Sponsored by Rosetta Stone Education: Winner: French Poem, Siobhan Waters, Lancaster Girls‘ Grammar School
