Maths Graphic

This is the Mathematics Activities and Resources section of the Lancashire Grid for Learning website.  Here you will find activities for primary pupils, resources and links for teachers, and contributions from Lancashire schools.

Our aim is to create, or link to, high quality online teaching and learning materials that can help develop mathematics skills and numeracy across the curriculum.

Please contact us if you have any suggestions, comments or concerns about the site.

Your views are valuable and help us to develop the resources available.

HELPING CHILDREN WITH MATHEMATICS:  YEAR 5 TO YEAR 6

These resources are designed to help parents support children with learning mathematics, towards the end of Year 5 or the start of Year 6. They involve practical real-life examples which can greatly enhance a child's learning.

The activities are designed to be stand-alone. However, it is likely that they will link to what the child is currently doing in class.

Some of the ideas could easily be incorporated into mathematics lessons.

OVERCOMING BARRIERS IN MATHEMATICS

HELPING CHILDREN MOVE FROM LEVEL 1 TO 2

HELPING CHILDREN MOVE FROM LEVEL 2 TO 3

HELPING CHILDREN MOVE FROM LEVEL 3 TO 4

HELPING CHILDREN MOVE FROM LEVEL 4 TO 5

These materials are designed to help teachers ensure that children progress to level 2 by the end of Year 2, level 3 by the end of Year 4 and to level 4 by the end of Year 6 and also that those children who are capable of achieving level 5 do so.

Increasing numbers of children are achieving higher levels in mathematics, but some children still meet barriers in their learning that slow or block their progress. The materials on the CDs provide teaching resources and ideas for teachers to use when planning additional support for those children.

The CDs and booklets are available to order quoting the following reference numbers:

  • Level 1 to level 2: 00021-2009
  • Level 2 to level 3: 00149-2008PCK-EN
  • Level 3 to level 4: 00695-2007PCK-EN
  • Level 4 to level 5: 00904-2009BKT-EN
