The Lancashire Schools' EYFS ICT skills progression has been produced in order to help and support Early Years Foundation stage and Key Stage 1 practitioners using ICT within the EYFS and KS1 curriculum. The materials have been desiged to show how the 9 elements of ICT (see the table below), taught throughout the primary phase, can also be introduced within the EYFS Framework.
Although the only reference to ICT within the EYFS Framework is in the Early Learning Goal Knowledge and Understanding of the World, there are a range of practical ways in which the 9 elements of ICT can be used to support all the areas of learning.

 The 9 Elements of ICT:

Text and Multimedia Images, Video and Animation Sound
Electronic Communication Digital Research Data Handling
Datalogging Logo and Control Simulations and Modelling

How can ICT be incorporated into each area of learning?

|

In addition to the EYFS ICT Progressions, there are suggestions as to how ICT can be incorporated into the Early Years Curriculum. There are six planning grids combining both the ELGs and the ICT progression, providing suggestions of activities that can be incorporated into each area of learning, and links to support materials. These grids can be accessed by clicking on the areas of learning below.
