If the sorting hat were to be placed upon your head, the only house worthy of you, would be Gryffindor with qualities of loyalty, courage, adventure and daring. Difficult decisions are made every day in Year 6, however, this was like walking into Olivander's and the wand jumping out of the box into the wizard's hand. People fail to recognise, that it matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be; and this young lady certainly has grown into a magical, creative and thoroughy conscientious author. You rather think anything is possible when you have enough nerve and our award winner has it in abundance. It has been a delight to see her push her own boundaries, uncover hidden abilities and rise to every challenge. And it is those abilities, which show what we truly are through the choices made and the example you set each and every day. Be proud of your achievement today and as you move into the next phase of education, take with you your unique talents. In the words of the woman who has inspired your interent n the realms of magic and mystery, "We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: you have the power to imagine better."

Huge congratulations and thank you!

The Autumn Term 2018 winner of the Sue Dean Writing Award is Grace Holcroft. This incredible young lady oozes enthusiasm and creativity. Her writing is entertaining, enthralling and so carefully crafted. Many visitors to Year 6 have been entertained by her maturity, style and flair. Writing takes her away on many an adventure and it’s been such a pleasure to be part of her journey – one which is just beginning and who knows where it will end?

Amy - Year 5: St Thomas the Martyr CE Primary School

Amy has been selected to receive the Sue Dean award for her progress over the course of KS2. After discussions with her previous teachers and looking across her pieces of writing collected since Nursery, it was evident how much progress she has made. Throughout every lesson, Amy listens dutifully to the skills being taught and thinks carefully about the application of the new skills as well as previous ones. She has grown in confidence when editing her pieces and looks for improvements before submitting her final pieces. Amy has such a passion for engaging her audience and plans how she is going to do this with different skills applied across different genres of writing. It is a pleasure to read and enjoy every time a piece of her work reaches the desk
